INSIGHTS CULTURE

Can You Build Culture in Remote Teams?

This week we heard a curious story from a prospective client: after moving to hybrid work, they received feedback from employees who didn't understand "what it really means to work here."

Culture doesn't come from slogans on the wall. It emerges from daily interactions, formal or informal.

In person, this happens naturally: coffee, group lunch, hallway conversations. Remote or hybrid work changes that process.

Culture doesn't disappear, but it requires intentional effort. Without it, the connection between teams weakens.

Recent data shows this

An EY survey in Brazil found that only 16% of employees prefer working in person, and many cite the loss of purpose or sense of belonging as a source of discomfort.

Another Gartner study revealed: 45% of employees reported feeling less connected to company values after moving to fully remote work.

In companies that actively strengthen culture digitally, the difference is palpable. More transparent relationships, more frequent communication, and strategic meetups — online or in person — strengthen bonds, even at a distance.

It's not the absence of the office that destroys culture. It's the absence of strategy.

The future of work requires conscious leaders who cultivate belonging in any format.

How is your company taking care of culture beyond physical walls?
